Lettie was born in Chicago to Italian immigrants Angelo Seno and Sebastiana ‘Christina' Saporito. Her family moved to Baldwin Michigan about 1916. The family, along with all worldly goods, loaded onto a freight car and rode the train to their new home. 'Home' was a hand-hewn, 3 room, log cabin (which still stands) built by her father.

Lettie married Carl William Wolgamott in 1920 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. In 1921 their first son, Guy Angelo Wolgamott was born in Baldwin, Lake County, Michigan. Their second son, Carl William (Red), Jr. was born in 1924 in Baldwin, Lake County, Michigan. In 1946 their third son, Charles Willard, was born in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

Lettie was destined to work with food. Her career began at age 14 at the club across the road from the cabin. She cooked for the gun club, at the local steakhouse, for the school, and put on funeral dinners at St. Anne's Catholic Church. She put on a dinner for former Governor George Romney.
