(1930-2013)

Age 83, of Wilmington, DE, passed quietly on Monday July 8, 2013. He was born in Wilmington on May 5, 1930 at home.

Robert, son of the late Ralph and Gladys Cummins, has roots in New Castle County since the 1770's. He was also preceded in death by his sister Gladys Cummins Hoskins and brother-in-law and friend Robert Hoskins Sr., his nephew Ralph William (Billy) Cummins and wife Luann.

He retired from Delmarva Power Light and Company in 1988 after 40 years of service. He is a lifelong member of The Military Order of the Purple Heart having honorably served the Korean War, receiving multiple metals of honor. He also was a former member of the VFW, and Wilmington Turners Club.

He enjoyed fishing, was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, and was known and loved by many at local casinos and restaurants. His sense of humor and jokes we will cherish forever.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn D. Cummins; daughter, Donna Cummins of Wilmington, DE; son, Clark (Mick) Cummins of Claymont, DE; his beloved granddaughter Jami (Cummins) Welsh and her husband Frank (Tug) of Newark, DE; great-granddaughters Sierra and Laila Anderson, and many others.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday July 17, from 10-11:30 am at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, Delaware 19808, followed by a small service at 11:30, then a procession to Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Pencader, De 19701 with a 1 pm military service.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association , 100 West 10th St. Suite 1002 Wilmington, DE 19801.
