George was the oldest son of John and Carrie Baker Holcomb. His father either left the family or his parents were divorced when he was very young. He and some of his siblings were left in the care of other people until his mother remarried.
He married Rachel Walker (Rate) in 1891. They had a son and daughter.
Around 1910, the family moved to MT and he and Rate divorced. He later moved to Everett WA where he spent the rest of his life.
