Robert Knisley, 82, of Niota, IL, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10:35 AM at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL.
He was born on April 9, 1931 in Nauvoo, IL to Chester and Thelma Gerhardt Knisley. On August 24, 1957 he married Alice L. Seigfried in Niota, IL and she passed away on April 26, 2005. Robert was a farmer and also worked production at IAAP. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Appanoose Presbyterian Church, VFW and the Nauvoo American Legion Post 711. Robert enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and being outdoors.
Survivors include four daughters, Janet (Charlie) Young of Woodville, MS, Nancy (Clifford) Crull of Ft. Madison, Gloria James of Iowa and Brenda (Stacy) Gilpin of Niota, IL; one son, Thomas Page of Nauvoo, IL; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, William Knisley of Donnellson and Henry Knisley of Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, two grandchildren and two brothers in infancy.
Friends may call after 3 PM on Monday, July 15, 2013 at King-Lynk Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 10:30 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Dave Poland officiating. Burial will follow in the Appanoose Cemetery, rural Niota with military rites performed by the Nauvoo American Legion Post 711.
