After John's death Annie married Earl Mikesell, moved to Chicago then California with her husband & children and died in 1955 in California. Most of John's children also lived/died in California.

Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Wednesday, March 29, 1916, page 1:
John Kniser, aged 39 years, long time resident of Edwardsville, died at his home on Orchard street at 2 o'clock this morning. His death was caused by blood poisoning. His death was unexpected - because his condition did not become serious until yesterday noon.
He had been ailing for the past seven weeks but was able to be up and around the house. Yesterday noon he became so bad he was compelled to take to his bed, from which he never arose.
John Kniser was born June 17, 1877, and died March 29, 1916. His birthplace was on a farm near New Douglas and he was the son of Thomas Kniser, a well-known farmer of that vicinity. When Mr. Kniser was still very young his family removed to Edwardsville, where he has since resided. His parents died a short time after they removed to Edwardsville.
Mr. Kniser attended the public schools here and after completing his schooling went to work in the mines. He was employed for a number of years at the mine of the Home Trade Coal Company, where he worked until recently, when he was compelled to retire because of his ill health.
He was married about sixteen years ago to Miss Anna Hrbacek of Edwardsville. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Anna Kniser and six children. They are Annie, Elsie, Mildred, Elmer, Thomas and John, of Edwardsville. He also had two brothers and two sisters. They are Frank and Joseph of Edwardsville, and Mrs. Frank Fink, and Miss Minnie Kniser of Edwardsville.
Mr. Kniser was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and also an active member of the Local No. 820, United Mine Workers of America.
The funeral will be held Friday morning from the family residence at 9:30 o'clock thence to St. Mary's Catholic church, at 10. Rev. C.A. O'Reilly, pastor of the church, will conduct services. The miner's local will have charge of the services and members of that local and the Moose lodge will attend in a body. Interment will be in the Catholic cemetery.
