was illegitimate daughter of Caroline Chilmaid, step-daughter to John Gosling. Mother of Dennis Jepson(2005), and Constance Jepson(1999). Sister of Elsie and Minnie, and Clive Gosling. Grandmother of Christine(England), Denise and Ken Stanford(deceased 2013) (Australia), Evelyn, Lee,(Canada). Great-grandmother of Matthew and James Stanford.Great-great-grandmother of Toby James and Joel Stanford (Australia).

She was named after her uncle's girlfriend in Holland. Caroline was shunned by her father, so Alfred Chilmaid, said if she named the child after his girlfriend in Holland, which he too could not marry, then he would give her the money to raise the baby. Caroline jumped at it, and the child, Nana, was named Eva Gertrude.

She was adopted by John Gosling in 1900, after he married Caroline Chilmaid. She was 6 years old by then.

She married Frederick Jepson, in 1920. The marriage didn't last. He was a cooper by trade, but a gambler at heart; as well as his soccer. He was never much of a husband, or father. She didn't see him much after Dennis was born. And only on his deathbed.
She visited Dennis twice, and came over by ship on the Elizabeth 1, both times, and flew back the last time. Dennis was her favorite, as he was the only son.
She lived many places when Dennis was growing up. They lived for awhile with Eva's uncle Jimmy Welford. Jimmy was married to Caroline's sister Florence. Florence died quite young in the marriage. Jimmy ran a farm and post office in the Village of Hilton, when it was still a Manor Village. It was one of Dennis' fondest memories. Although he never knew what part Jimmy paid in the family genealogy.

I always knew when something was wrong with Dad, because, I would have a clear picture in my mind of Nana, and if I contacted Dad, in fact there was something wrong that needed tending to. And she came for Dennis in the end.

In her later years she lived with her daughter, Constance, in Reading, Berks., and Redcar, Yorks., and Ramsgate, Kent.
She had dementia. Was cremated, and sprinkled in the Rose Garden at The Ramsgate Cemetery, Kent.
