James Coutorie Sr.

LA MARQUE — Services for James E. Coutorie Sr., 69. a retired carpenter foreman, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church in Texas City, the Rev. Walter Dube officiating.

Burial will be at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, under direction of James Crowder Funeral Home.

Mr. Coutorie died Monday at Memorial Hospital of Galveston County in Texas City.

He was born June 29, 1914 in Galveston.

He had retired from Union Carbide. Coutorie was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He had been a La Marque resident since 1951 and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Texas City.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Coutorie of La Marque; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Cynthi a Lee) Rankin of Houston; two sons, James Earl Coutorie Jr. of La Marque and Lawrence Emil Coutorie of Houston; three sisters, Virginia Manthei of La Marque , and Marion Zachary and Marjorie Yaws, both of Alta Loma;one brother, Frederick H. Coutorie of Houston; eight grandchildre; and six great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Lucas. Carl English, Z.T. Snider, Eddie Guisti, Pete Heidi and Gordon Treadaway.

Visitors may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.

Memorials may be sent to Peace Lutheran Church in Texas City.
