Francis C. List, 83, died Friday, July 15, 2003, at his residence in West Manchester Township. He was the husband of Ruth M. (Bohr) List. The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on March 3rd of this year. Celebration of life service 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, York, Rev. Kevin T. Shively officiating. Burial in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. List was born September 28, 1921, in Shrewsbury. He was the son of the late Louis A. and Charlotte (Kelly) List. As a Business Administrator at Yorkcraft, he was Vice President in charge of manufacturing for 10 years, until his retirement in 1984. Before his career at Yorkcraft, he was employed for 25 years with Readco in York, where he continuously earned promotions and eventually became company President. As a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in York, he was active in their church council, church finance committee, treasurer of the Sunday school, and Sunday school class president. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Army's medical corps. Mr. List was also a member of the Lafayette Club, Viking Athletic Association, Quarterback Club of the Baltimore Colts, and past Vice President of West York School Board. In addition to his wife, Mr. List is survived by one son, Dr. Alan F. List and his wife, Kimberly of Tampa, FL; one daughter, Sandra I. McNelis and her husband, William of Altoona; four grandchildren, Allison, Tricia, and Matthew McNelis, and McKenzie List; two sisters, Mary List of York and Loretta Stough of Dover; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. [York Daily Record]
