James M. ''Grandpa'' McBride, Jr., 74, died at 4:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2005, at his residence. He was the husband of Dolores R. (Gustafson) McBride of York. Mr. and Mrs. McBride celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on April 19, 2005. Born October 24, 1930, in Lenola, NJ, he was the son of the late James M., Sr., and Stella (Vaughn) McBride. Mr. McBride was a construction field manager. He retired from the Honeywell Corp. after 16 years with the company. Prior to his employment with Honeywell, he was with the Fluor Corp. in California for 11 years. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. After his retirement, Jim's favorite pastime was playing bingo with his friends at the Victory and Dallastown Firehouses. Mr. McBride was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. He was a 58 year member of I.B.E.W., Local 654, Chester; a member of Toast Masters; and an associate member of the F.O.P. Lodge 15. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sonja D. and her husband, Lloyd L. McDonald of Edmonton Alberta, Canada, and Nadine R. and her husband, Roy W. Pylant of York; two sons, James M. and his wife, Betty L. McBride, III, and Blake D. McBride, all of York; and eight grandchildren, Clayton, Brett, and Avery McDonald (Candace, Annik, and Melissa), all of Alberta, Canada, James, IV (Bonnie) and Kimberly McBride (Ben), all of York, Stephanie McBride of Baton Rouge, LA, and Mikala and Eryn McBride of York. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret D. and her husband, Ron Becker of Temple; a brother, Richard and his wife, Charlene McBride of Burleson, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Nedjab, and William McBride; and one sister, Nancy Campbell. Funeral Wednesday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, York, Rev. Edward J. Peck, Jr., Interim Rector, and Carol B. Snell, Deacon, both of the church, officiating. Interment in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Honors provided by the York City Police Honor Guard.
