Funeral services were held Friday, October 19 for Lois Hope Leenan, 84. Mrs. Leenan died Tuesday, October 16, 1984 at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa following a brief illness.
Lois was born June 21, 1900 at Hancock, Iowa, the daughter of Winter J. and Ida Smith Madsen. She lived the greater part of her life in the Walnut area and was married in 1940 to Wendel Leenan. Wendel died in 1961.
Lois was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Mrs. Anthony (Lila) Saroli of Venice, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a step-daughter, Allene Hatch; her sister Merna; and brother Ivan.
Berthusen-Knutson Funeral Home was in charge of services with Pastor Max Bowlin officiating.
Serving as casket bearers were Louis Pedersen, Jr., Elwyn Ferry, Ronald Staiert, Robert Martens, Gardner Benscoter and John Anderson.
Interment was in the Walnut Cemetery, Walnut, Iowa.

Funeral services for Lois Leenan, 84, of Walnut, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Berthusen-Knutson Funeral Home in Walnut. The Rev. Max Bowlin, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church there, will officiate. Interment will be in the Walnut Cemetery.
Mrs. Leenan died Monday at the Atlantic hospital. She was born near Hancock and after her marriage in 1940 moved to the Walnut community. Mrs. Leenan was the widow of Wendell Leenan who died in 1961.
Surviving are a step-daughter, Mrs. Anthony (Lila) Saroli of Venice, Fla.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
