Elmer D. Struempler, longtime El Paso resident passed away on Jan. 15, 2005 at the age of 82 years. He was born April 23, 1922 in Amherst, Colorado to the late Martin and Katharine Sagehorn Struempler. Mr. Struempler served his country honorably and faithfully as a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Struempler was a comptroller in the automotive industry and worked with many automotive dealerships throughout El Paso and Las Cruces. He along with his late wife, Katherine, were former members of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church and later members of Zion Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Struempler on March 19, 2001; his parents; son, Delvin Struempler; one brother, Norman Struempler and two sisters, Ethel and Gladys Ellis.

Mr. Struempler is survived by his sons, Richard Struempler and wife Geri of Lake Park, Georgia; Ray Williams and wife Victoria of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a host of dear friends.
Visitation for Mr. Struempler will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2005 from 4-7 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Avenue. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central with Pastor Charles Canada of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.
