Officer Harley Franklin Guy died on duty May 22, 1999 after suffering a major heart attack while assisting a colleague at a local nature center. He was assigned as the park ranger for the City of Kinston Police Department. Officer Guy served with the department for seventeen years. He was the beloved son of Lawrence Franklin Guy and Vivian Elizabeth Simmons. He is survived by his wife Barbara Anne Lewis Guy and two children, Penny Guy Asby and David Guy, and mother in law GLENNIE M. MANNING LEWIS and predeceased by his father in law, Bryan Clifton Lewis, Sr.
