Nugent, Kathleen Patricia “Pat” passed away July 8, 2009 at Little Bow Continuing Care Centre at Carmangay at the age of 95 years.

Pat was born at Fernie, BC on May 9, 1914 to Ernest and Belinda Nugent. The family moved to Alberta in 1915 and settled in the Barons then Carmangay area. Pat attended Circle, Yale and Carmangay schools. Her dream was to become a teacher and she worked at various jobs to earn the money to attain this goal. Pat worked as a telephone operator in Carmangay and then went on to work at the General Store. It took twenty-two years for Pat to be able to afford the tuition but she was finally able to attend the University of Calgary to become a teacher.. She got a job teaching at Milo and stayed there for eighteen years until her retirement in 1979. Pat then moved back to Carmangay to be closer to her sister Lorraine. She moved into the Peter Dawson Lodge in 2003 and Little Bow Continuing Care Centre in 2009 where Pat resided until her passing.

Pat was a strong supporter and member of the Carmangay United Church. She loved to go for walks and tour the river hills where she used to go for hikes when she was young. Pat enjoyed taking pictures, doing needlework and many crafts. She also volunteered and showed her pictures at the Carmangay Agra Fair.

Pat is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pat is predeceased by her parents, five sisters Rose, Norah, Ethel, Lorraine and Emily and a brother Terry.
