Charles T. Carpenter Buried At Concord

Charles Thomas Carpenter, 64, passed away in Citizens Hospital, Talladega, Friday night, following a heart attack.

Funeral services were held at Talladega Creek Baptist Church on November 18th at 11 o'clock with the Rev. Leon Browning officiating. Internment was in Concord Cemetery.

The deceased was a former Clay County citizen but had lived in Talladega many years. Was a deacon in Talladega Creek Baptist Church and was a great lover of music.

Survivors are the wife, one son, Oneal Carpenter, Birmingham; five daughters, Mrs. C. H. [Ethel Eudell] Sprayberry, Mrs. T. O. [Sara] Clark, Mrs. Jim [Mary Nell] Smith, Mrs. Lena Mae Smith, Mrs. Terry [Evelyn Frances] Beverly.

His mother, Mrs. Viola Carpenter, Talladega; five brothers, Zackie and Roy Carpenter, Anniston; Arthur and Cecil, Talladega; Barney [sic. John Barnett], Ashland; five sisters, Mrs. Nobie Hallmark, Mrs. Lonnie [Lacie I.] Haynes, Mrs. Homer [Lessie Viola] Hamyton [sic. Hampton], Talladega; Mrs. Eula Rogers [sic. Bradley], Iowa; Mrs. Dock [Sallie Iberta] Haynes, Cullman; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
