William Canfield was buried here in the Bridge Street Cemetery in Northampton (the grave is no longer marked), but a monument was erected to him in Belchertown's South Cemetery by the Kenfield Family Association. He and wife Thankful were the parents of Ebenezer, b. 1704 and Nathaniel, b. 1706.
According to _A Kenfield History_ by Earl P. Crandall, Catskill, NY, 1993, his widow married Richard Percy in Hatfield, MA 18 Dec. 1708. I find the record of a marriage 18 Dec 1708 between a Thankful Canfield and a Richard Pearce at Northampton, MA.
It was previously thought that this William Canfield was the son of James and Elizabeth (Edsall) Kentfield, baptized 21 Jan 1682/82 in Hurst Parish Berkshire, England. This has been proved untrue, says Crandall.
Carol Stevens, member 46861595, supplied the year of birth, which differs a bit from that estimated on the marker erected in Belchertown's South Cemetery.
