Robert Clyde Benson, age 74, passed away at Heritage Care Center on May 31, 2008. He was born in Newton, Utah to Kenneth D. and Eva P. Benson. He married Joyce Rowley in the Salt Lake Temple on August 28, 1959. He was raised in Cache Valley where he attended Newton Elementary and North Cache High School, and graduated from Utah Trade Technical College in Wood Trades and began his career as a carpenter. He served in the U.S, Army.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served many years in the cub-scout program. Grandpa Bob loved his grandchildren and supported them in all they did. He could always be found at their sporting events. He kept the family entertained with his jokes and was loved and respected by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Michael. Robert is survived by his wife, Joyce, daughter Lori (Bud) Harper, Highlands Ranch, CO, Brothers, Ken Benson, Basin City, Washington, George Benson, Richland Washington, grandchildren, Daniel, Ryan, Kami Harper, Highlands Ranch, CO, Shandi Benson, Shad Roberts, Provo, Utah, Dalton Caldwell (serving in the San Diego mission) and Tayler Caldwell, Vernal, Utah.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at the Heritage Care Center who took such good care of him.

Funeral services will be held at Sundberg Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment at Orem City Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post # 72.
