Marjorie E. Wormell, 90, of Galion, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Mill Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Galion where she has resided the last three years.

Born Oct. 2, 1920 in Morrow County, she was the daughter of the late Raleigh F. and Lulu F. (Rinehart) Ashbrook. She was preceded in death on Dec. 4, 1998 by her husband, Charles E. Wormell whom she married on March 25, 1943.

Marge was valedictorian of Mt. Gilead High School Class of 1939 and a member of Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority and a member of the Board of Directors of Crawford County Community Action Headstart Committee. She volunteered at Galion Community Hospital as a member of Auxiliary's TWIG 5 and was a member of First United Church of Christ where she attended the Tuesday morning Bible Study Group. She was a homemaker most of her life and in the 1950's worked at the former Galion Iron Works in Galion as an administrative secretary for four years.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tracie and Dale Opperman of Shelby; two grandchildren, Nicole (Andrew) Claus of Galion and Jena Opperman of Shelby; two great-grandchildren, Katelynn and Nolan; one sister-in-law, Maxine Ashbrook of Mt. Gilead; many nieces; nephews and many long-time loyal friends.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Lawyer, Beulah Fry and Mary Dray and one brother, Lowell Ashbrook.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, with Rev. Samuel J. Buehrer officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
