Mary Ann was the second of six children born to Andrew B. and Margaret E. (Caldwell) Pauley. She married Daniel McNeil Holman in 1847 and they had 13 children: James H., Ira Neufield, Susan M., William Andrew 'Andy', Alice Emily, Lewis S., Madora, Joseph C., David Taylor 'Doc', Maggie C., Daniel 'Tuck', Ezekiel K. 'Zeak' and Annie.

Grandma Holman, one of the oldest citizens of this part of the territory, died at her home, about four miles south east of town, last Saturday night and was buried at the family burying ground Sunday. Mrs. Holman was about 80 years old.
