Mrs. Aletha Gegenheimer

Mrs. Aletha Gegenheimer 75, of Iowa City, died Monday, June 10 in an Iowa City nursing home after a brief illness. She had resided in the home for two years. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Oathout funeral chapel in Iowa City, the Rev. Zerwas pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial was in the Oxford cemetery.

Born September 12, 1887, north of Oxford, the daughter of Thomas and Martha Kepford Tranter, she attended Oxford schools and was married to Wesley Gegenheimer of Iowa township in 1907. The couple farmed in Iowa township until 1914 when they moved to Oxford and in 1924 moved to Iowa City. Mrs. Gegenheimer died in 1933. Mrs. Gegenheimer was a cook for many years in fraternity and sorority houses in Iowa City.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church. Survivors are two sons, B. G. Gegenheimer of Iowa City, Tom Gegenheimer of Ottumwa; six grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Greer of Iowa City. Besides her husband, six sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
