W.L. Mathis, 67, resident of the Pleasant Glade community, Van Zandt county, just north of Eustace, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bessie Barker at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Mathis had been ill for more than a year and succumbed to cancer.
Funeral services were held on Thursday at 2:00 o'clock by Rev. Bert Meredith with burial following at Elm Grove cemetery under the direction of the Athens Funeral Home.
Deceased was born in Dallas but had lived at Pleasant Glade for the past thirty-five years.
Survivors include two sons, Tommie Mathis of Caddo and Frank Mathis of Eustace and three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Barker, Mrs. Ocie Pinkerton and Leatha May Bailey.
