Eloi B. "The Wolfman" Abel, 89, Hastings, died Saturday at Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona. He was born in Hastings, son of the late Benjamin and Mary (Strittmatter) Abel.

Surviving are a daughter, Debbie, of Altoona; a brother, Clayton, of Erie; and a sister, Dorthy Falcone, of Bridgeton, N.J.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Walter and Patrick; and four sisters: Amelia Yachtis, Theresa Yahner, Edna Becker and Mildred Gleydura.

Eloi was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during WWII. He was employed by Wolf Furniture.

Eloi was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, VFW, American Legion and DAV. He loved to camp, fish, play bingo and do leather crafting.

Eloi is survived by his beloved Pekingese, Yoda.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Easly-Hindman Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 333 Beaver Street, Hastings, and from 10:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Father Thaddeus Rettger, O.S.B., officiating. Interment will be held at the church cemetery.

Those who wish to may make memorial donations for masses.
