Mr. Acred was born February 17, 1947 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Fred Acred, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Hochnedel Acred.
He received his education in the Memphis City School System and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War period serving in the 101st Airborne.
A Christian, Mr. Acred had been a resident of the Nesbit Community for the past 35 years. He was married July 25, 1994 to the former Linda Holly, director of childcare at Kaco's Kids Child Nursery in Hernando, who survives.
Mr. Acred had been involved in the trucking industry for over 40 years before his retirement 2 years ago.
His interests included riding his Harley motorcycle and outdoor activities. He was a hot rod and gun enthusiast who will be remembered as a skilled craftsman and artist who built his own home.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Acred is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Acred of Nesbit, MS; his son, Britt Acred of Jonesboro, AR; two stepdaughters, Holly Pittman of Cordova, Crista Smothers of Cordova; two brothers, Robert "Bob" Acred of Bartlett, George "Buddy" Acred, III of Bartlett; and ten grandchildren.
