Leonard W. Mecca of Toms River, NJ, formerly of Bloomfield, NJ, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015, in the New Jersey Firemen's Home in Boonton, NJ. He was 89 years old.
Visitation will be held at the LaMonica Memorial Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave, Livingston, NJ, on Tuesday, Mar. 31, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, April 1, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, followed by the interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Bloomfield. Born in Newark, NJ, Leonard lived in Bloomfield for many years before moving to Toms River in 2000. A World War II Navy veteran, he later became a fireman with the Bloomfield Fire Department for over 25 years before retiring many years ago.
Leonard was predeceased by his parents, William and Rose Mecca, his beloved wife, Lucille (nee Racioppi), and a sister, Joan Di Orio. He is survived by his loving son, Billy Mecca, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
