L. Robert "Bob" Langley, 98, of Sumter, SC passed away on September 8, 2021 at Covenant Place. He was born on May 3, 1923 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late William P. and Laura Condon Langley of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Turner Langley and a brother, Air Force Pilot, Second Lieutenant Linwood D. Langley who was killed in action on November 29, 1943 in Germany.

Commander Langley, USN Ret. graduated from the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida; Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN; and Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California.

CDR Langley had a combined total of 40 years' service as an US Naval Aviator in the United States Navy and as a Pilot in the US Naval Reserves; he also had 34 years of service in the USAF as an Auditor General, Tactical Air Command at Shaw AFB in Sumter, SC.

He was an active member of Lincoln Memorial University Alumni where he was recently inducted into the Professional Hall of Fame and a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, where he served as an Usher for over 30 years.
