Josephs surname at birth was Sullivan, he was adopted by E. H. Slade as a youngster. His birth father was James Francis Sullivan, and mom was Nona Wallace Sullivan Slade. Dad was in the Navy for a short while at the end of WWII. He never saw combat as by the time he was done with boot camp, the war was over. He drove truck for years, logged, and was a mechanic. Dad was married three times: Dolores Marshall, Wilma Bollinger, and mom Lois L. Voigts. He had eleven children. Two sons with Dolores, a daughter and a son who died as infants with Wilma, and seven children, 5 girls, two boys with mom. Dad had many interests in his life, Sci Fi, space travel, motorcycles, cars and his kids. He was an onery man who loved his family.
