COBDEN, DIED AT 86
Joseph Alexander Yates, 86, of Cobden, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Union County Hospital, Anna.
He was a farmer and a member of Cobden united Pentecostal Church.
Mr. Yates was born Jan. 11, 1885 in Polk County, the son of Thomas and Mary Yates. He was married to Ada Mae DeHart, who preceded him in death, and to Mary Mae Davis, who also preceded him in death.
He leaves a daughter, Ruby Yates of St. Louis, Mo.; a son, Clyde A. Yates of Alton; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at McCarty Funeral Home, Cobden, with the Rev. Larry Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in Cobden.
- NOTE that Alex Yates' WWII draft card also gives his birth place as Polk Co., IL, but there is no such county listed in Illinois.
