When Vera Guthrie was just a young child of 4 years, her mother MaryAnn Titshaw Guthrie died in 1897 and she was raised by her father, Luther Oscar Guthrie and her Grandmother, Mary Julia Trammell Guthrie in Walton County, Georgia.

Even as a child it has been said by relatives that she was a very neat and tidy, careful and frugal. She liked to sew too. She collected small paintings and china figurines almost all her life. She was very interested in History and had also done some Genealogy on her GUTHRIE and TRAMMELL families' history.

She suffered from diabetes in her later years and it contributed to her demise at the age of 84.

She was preceeded in death her parents Luther and MaryAnn Guthrie, her husband Thomas W. Allgood and her only child and daughter, Artist Gloria Ellen Allgood.
