Services were held Friday, July 27, 1984 for William Robert Jernigan, 90, at Crossroads Baptist Church between Alamo and Bells, Tenn., with the Rev. Oscar Patterson officiating. Burial was at Oakview Memorial Gardens in that vicinity with Ronk Funeral Home of Alamo in charge.

A retired farmer, Mr. Jernigan lived in the number Eight Community for seven years before moving to Tennessee in 1946. He was at one time a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows in steele.

Mr. Jernigan died July 25, 1984 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Oda Mae Pfeffers of Malden, after a long illness.,

A native of McNairy County, he had lived in Alamo, Bells and Rutherford.

He leaves six others daughters: Mrs. Clister Wilson of St. Louis, Mrs. Hortense Barger of Cooter, Mrs. Flossie Lewis of Braggadocio, Mrs. Jessie Reasons of Bells, Tenn., Mrs. Ophelia Duncan of Rutherford, Tenn., and Mrs. Opal Adams of Trenton; four sons: R.C. Jernigan of Steele, Lloyd Jernigan of Hope, Ark., James W. Jernigan of Huntsville, Ala., and Estell A. Jernigan of ?Rutherford; one brother: Walter Jernigan of Brownsville, Tenn.; four sisters; Mrs. Pearl Blurton of Bells, Mrs. Mae Reynolds of Ramer, Tenn., Mrs. Edith Rayburn of Memphis and Mrs. Myrtle Randolph of Alamo; 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
