Gloria Allgood was the only child of Thomas W. And Vera Guthrie Allgood.

She was a draftsperson and an Artist all her adult life. She was a civilian employee of the US Army during WWII.

After WWII,she was sent to Hiroshima, Japan at the behest of the US Army, to help with the drawing up and drafting of plans for the re-building of that city.

While in Japan, she acquired several pieces of Japanese art, the start of her Asian Art collection. She became an avid collector of Japanese woodcut prints.

She was 49 years old when she passed away from leukemia after suffering from it for several years.

She was preceeded in death by her father, Thomas W. Allgood.
