From the Clay Center Times, dated February 22, 1917:

A sad death occurred in the neighborhood of Oakhill Thursday afternoon last, when Miss Irma Taylor, the nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor, was drowned in a tank of water at the Taylor home. The child was alone when she accidentally fell into the tank and when discovered life was almost extinct. Dr. O.U. Need was called at once, but he was unable to restore life and the little girl passed away at 5 o'clock that same afternoon. The Taylor family have the sincere sympathy of many friends at this time and many expressions of sympathy were expressed by floral tributes. The funeral services were held at the home and burial made in the cemetery near Oakhill.
