Leroy A. Adams was born on October 30, 1924 on Polk Street in Orlando, Florida to the late Boyd and Neville R. Adams. He was a graduate of Jones High School. Mr. Adams served in the United States Navy from 1943 through 1946 and fought in World War II. Mr. Adams was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1946. His professional experiences included: educator with Orange County Public Schools, administrator in the City of Orlando Public Housing Authority, social worker for the Orange County Department of Social Services, real estate property developer, and insurance agent for the John Hancock Insurance Company. He attended Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida and received a Bachelor of Science Degree; he later earned a Masters of Science Degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Leroy A. Adams was installed as an Elder of the Church of Christ at Westmoreland Drive and served as Senior Minister and Evangelist, beginning in 1978. He retired as Senior Minister of the Westmoreland Drive congregation in 2000 and continued to serve as an active Elder until his departure from this life. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Ruby L. Adams. [Orlando Sentinel].
