Age 79, of Janesville, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center, Janesville. She was born, along with her twin brother, Dean Elden Baxter, at home in Edgerton, to Oren R. and Elsie M. (Klingbyll) Baxter. She worked 12 years for Hough Mfg. Corp, and was one of the first four women to work in the new Hough Core Division from 1954 to 1966. She had also worked for 10 years at Fairbanks Morse Corp. in Beloit. She played several years of fast pitch softball for the Beloit Bombers, Janesville Pepperettes, and the Janesville Gems. While playing for the Gems, she won the MVP trophy at the Wisconsin State Tournament in Oshkosh, in 1961. Jean was also an avid golfer, playing with the Putten Pals and Janesville Municipal Golf League. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Baxter; and sister-in-law, Jane Baxter.
