Inza Cannaday Belcher

Inza Cannaday Adkins Belcher, 76, of 571 Mockingbird Lane, Bassett, died Saturday January 9, 2010 at the Palliative Care Unit of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The daughter of the late Charlie E. and Emma Thompson Cannaday, she was born in Nola in Franklin County on March 12, 1933. In addition to her parents, a sister, Betty Sue Cannaday and two brothers, Bunyan Allen Cannaday and Euell Neil Cannaday preceded her in death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bassett. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, J. William Belcher of the home, a daughter and son-in-law Wanda (Adkins) and Roy Hopkins of Collinsville, two sons and daughters-in-law, Charlie Glenwood "Pete" and Becky Adkins, Jerry William and Denise Belcher of Bassett, three grandchildren, Derek Cain Hopkins, Jennifer Dawn (Belcher) Morrall, and Jeremy Warren Belcher, and three great-grandchildren, Savannah Leigh Hopkins, Aidan Cain Hopkins and Michael Andrew "Drew" Morral. In addition, she is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Faye C. and Jack Handy and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles S. Cannaday, Edward Leon and Martha Cannaday, Joel M. Cannaday and Cannaday and Paul Lee and Mary Cannaday, three step-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Fralin of Bassett. The family will receive friends Monday January 11, 2009 from 6:00-8:00pm at Bassett Funeral Service and at other times at the home. The funeral will be Tuesday January 12, 2009 at 2:00pm also at Bassett Funeral Service with the Rev. Lew Bennett and Pastor Gary Hughes officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorial may be made to First Baptist Church of Bassett or the American Cancer Society. Bassett Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements. The funeral for Inza C. Belcher, 76, of Bassett, who died Jan. 9, 2010, was held Tuesday at Bassett Funeral Service, South Chapel, with the Rev. Lew Bennett and Pastor Gary Hughes officiating. Burial was in Old Center Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clarence Ryan, Truman Stone, Laymon Sigmon, Wally Thompson, Jeremy Belcher and Derek Hopkins. [MB]
