Bradley William "Brad" Haviland, Sr., 61, of St. Paul, died at 2:32 a.m., Tues., Dec. 25, 2012 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

He was born Dec. 12, 1951 at Neodesha, KS, a son of William and Lorene (Schoonover) Haviland. He was raised at Neodesha and Edna and attended Parsons schools. where he played football. After completing high school he enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17. He served on many ships throughout various deployments, retiring in 1995. He was also a veteran of the Vietnam War. After he retired from service he moved to St. Paul.

He was united in marriage to Helen Jane Lindsey on Apr. 12, 1975. She survives of the home.

His hobbies included driving in demolition derbies, movies and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one son – Bradley William Haviland, Jr., of Waverly Hall, GA; one daughter – Christie Collins, of Walnut, KS; one son in-law – Donnie Collins, of Walnut, KS; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother – John Haviland, of Coffeyville, KS; two sisters – Kathy Eden, of Neosho, MO; and Debra Rosenberg, of Weir, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons – Christopher Lynn and Travis John Haviland; and one brother – Matthew Haviland.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Fri., Dec. 28, 2012 at the Hope Cemetery at St. Paul. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Thurs. at the CARSON-WALL FUNERAL HOME at St. Paul.
