Born Hopewell Twp., son of Jacob and Rachel (Wilt) Marks. Married about 1871 to Catherine E. (Koch) Neely, a widow. She died in 1877. Married 26 Feb 1881 to Mary Ann (Weaver) Koch, his sister-in-law. Father of William, Jacob and John Morris Marks and of Emma Marks Carnell Kube. Stepfather of Patrick Neely and Margaret Koch Woodell Culbertson. Brother of Franklin, William, Samuel and Lucinda Marks, Anna McFarland and Margaret Piper. Buried next to his mother-in-law, Barbara Weber. Tombstone reads Andrew "G" for Andrew Gackson (sic).


Altoona Mirror, Monday, Sept. 6, 1920:

"Andrew J. Marks died last night at 11:15 o'clock at his home at 702 Montgomery street, Hollidaysburg, following a complication of diseases caused by an accident he received while employed at the railroad roundhouse about a year ago. He was aged 69 years and leaves his wife and four children, who are: Jacob of Windber, Emma Carnell of Hollidaysburg, John, at home, and Mrs. McGregor (sic) Woodel, also of Hollidaysburg. He was a consistent member of St. Mary's Catholic church and of the flower committee of the roundhouse. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's church of Hollidaysburg followed by interment in St. Mary's cemetery."
