Mr. Heyward Hardy Center, Jr. died on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. He was born to the late Heyward Hardy Center, Sr. and the late Mae Hoefer Center on July 4, 1938 in Columbia, South Carolina.

He attended the public schools in Richland School District One. He served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Mr. Center was a brick layer by trade.

At an early age, he joined Zion Chapel Baptist Church No. 1, where he served faithfully on the Senior Jubilee Choir until his health failed.

Those left to cherish Heyward's fond and precious memories are his loving wife of 53 years, Julia Wright Center; three children: Willie E. (Robin Dreher) Solomon, Linda S. (Artie) Scott, Herbert L. (Angela) Solomon; an adopted son, Mikale Swindler; granddaughter raised in the home, Monica Shealy; two sisters, Mae Frances (Johnnie A.) Center Blocker and Mary Louise Center Grant; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends, all of whom are saddened by his sudden departure and will miss him dearly.

Homegoing service: Zion Chapel Baptist Church #1 (Walter Hills Road, Columbia, SC) with burial in the church cemetery.
