Louis H. Baier, 63, of Airport Road, died Saturday at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born May 10, 1918, in Fessenden, N.D., the son of William and Elizabeth Baier. He was educated in Fessenden and farmed there until he was drafted into the Army in 1941. He served overseas until his discharge in 1945.
Baier did auto bodywork for various dealers in North Dakota, St. Paul, Minn., Prescott, and Williams, Ariz., until his move to Boulder, Colo. in 1953. He was a resident of Boulder for 10 years until moving to Hamilton. In 1965, he moved to Whitepine, briefly lived in Sandpoint, Idaho, and moved to Kalispell in 1974.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys, whom he married March 4, 1951, in Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Louise) Tallent of Wichita, Kan.; four sisters, Mrs. Ben (Ruth) Wahl, Mrs. Clarence (Ernestine) Martin, both of Fessenden; Mrs. Richard (Minnie) Baker of Aitkin, Minn. and Mrs. Lee (Edna) Trexler of Charlotte, N.D.; one brother, William of St. Paul, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Baier had been a member of V.F.W. Post 2252. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Glacier Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Chauncey Biffle, pastor of United Epworth Methodist Church, officiating. Military rites will be performed by local veterans.
The family suggests memorials to the Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. Funeral arrangements have been made by the Wetherford Funeral Home.
