Roland was educated by the El Dorado School District and on June 17, 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman Apprentice and served until April 7, 1948. After his honorable discharge, he continued his education at Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma, where he also met and married his first love, Muriel Miller. They had four children, twins Cynthia and Saundra, Stephanie and Gregory. The family moved and lived all over the United States while Roland was a pipefitter until settling in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in 1956. In 1968, Roland moved to Victoria, Texas, where he met and married his second love and late wife of 35 years, Marie Stanzel Bartosh. They lived in Austin, Bastrop and finally settled in Montgomery, Texas on Lake Conroe.
On May 15, 1979, Mr. McAdoo was raised a Master Mason in the Gamble Masonic Lodge #244 in Bastrop, Texas and was past Master of Mina Lodge #1456 in Bastrop, Texas. He was also a 32nd Scottish Rite Mason and a Member of the Shrine.
In January 2002, "Mac" was inducted into the Domino Hall of Fame during the Texas State Domino Tournament in Hallettsville, Texas.
Roland is survived by his beloved children, Saundra Vanlandingham and husband Terry, Cynthia Brennan and husband Terry, Stephanie Doss and Gregory McAdoo and wife Julie, Mike and Lana Bartosh and Leslie and Sandra Bartosh. He is also survived by five precious grandchildren, Brandon Doss, Joshua McAdoo, Natasha McAdoo, Michael Bartosh and Eleanor Bartosh and two great grandchildren, Samuel Doss and Brianna McAdoo.
A memorial service for Roland "Mac" McAdoo will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Dr. Frank Varro officiating.
