Evelyn Caroline Wicks Straub, 91, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday evening, July 27, 2013 at Sundale Nursing Home of Morgantown.
She was born in Cleveland, OH on June 13, 1922, the only child of the late Burke Oscar Wicks and the late Allie Maude Worthington Wicks.
Survivors include her son, Gregory Brent Straub and his wife Renee of Morgantown; and two grandchildren, Dr. Adam David Straub and his wife Miriam of Ballarat, Australia and Professor Travis George Straub and his fiancée Maura Jacob of Pittsburgh, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lewis Straub on November 17, 2010.
Evelyn was a realtor for many years with Shellhammer Realty. She was a member for more than 50 years with both the Nehta Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Isis Court of the Ladies Oriental Shrine Daffy Dolls Unit. Additionally, she was a member of the Mon County CEO’s and was formerly their Monongalia County Belle, as well as the Almost Heaven Red Hatters.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Tuesday, July 30th from 5-8 PM and again on Wednesday, July 31st from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Reverend Krysta Wolfe officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover.
