Obituary

Joseph Andrew Wondrasch passed away at his home in Wykoff at 10:30 on Wednesday evening, August 22nd. His death came as the result of a head injury which he received when he fell from a truck on the morning of the same day. He died without regaining consciousness.

Mr. Wondrasch was born in Bohemia, October 20, 1861, and came to this country in 1880 at the age of 19 years. Since that time he has been a resident of Wykoff and vicinity. Until four years ago he resided on a farm two miles south of the village. On November 11, 1887 Mr. Wondrasch was married to Mary Straz (***I believe this is a misprint, as he was married to Emma Louise Erdman, Maria Straz was his mother***) at St. John's Lutheran church in Wykoff. To this marriage were born eleven children, three of whom preceded him in death. The living are; Anton of Dover, Gustave and Louis of Wykoff, Otto of Eyota, Mrs. Beata Manthei of Mazeppa, Mrs. Cora Rosin of Jackson, Mich., Mrs Dora LaMay of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Esther Pettelko of Chatfield. He is also survivied by his wife.

Twenty-three grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

Funeral servies were conducted by Rev. J. A. Stein, Saturday, at 1:30 P.M., at the home and at 2:00 at St. John's Lutheran church in Wykoff. Burial was made in St. John's cemetry. The pall-bearers were: Elton and Arlow Grabau, Donald Erdman, Walter Biel, Elmer Erdman, and Lother Schneider. Relatives and friends from out of town attending were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Krueger, Mrs. Mahla Lerke, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boeder, Mr. Ferd. Boeder from Gibbon, Mrs. Martin Blasing from Arlington, Mrs. Fred Rushmeyer from Stewart, Mrs. Barbara Groth from Preston, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Freiert from Waltam, Mr. and Mrs. William Erdman from Danville, Iinois, Mrs. Albert Biel from Grandin, N. Dak., Mrs. Dale Riggle of Fairmont, Mrs. Blake Nehls of Tracy, Mr. and Mrs., John Hisey of Chatfield, Mrs. Tillie Grabau and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schumacher of Spring Valley.
