married Feb. 18, 1941Otis Eugene Parkison, 91, of Brownstown, died at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown, with the Rev. Jim Dann officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the church. A private family burial will be at a later date. Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Parkison was born on Feb. 16, 1921, in rural Brownstown, the son of Ferdinand A. and Vernie Sefton Parkison. He married Martha Jane Fletcher on Feb. 18, 1941; she died in 1986. He married Lenore Childress Smith on March 4, 1986.
He was a retired farmer, and he attended Liberty Christian Church.
He is survived by daughters, Patsy and her husband Ron Tretter of Steeleville, Rosalie Tackett of Boca Raton, Fla., Deanna Carlock of Sullivan, Louise and her husband Steve Morrison of Beecher City; and Penny Parkison of Dallas, Texas; son, Paul Parkison and his wife Deb of Brownstown; brother, Revis Parkison and his wife Delores of Irving, Texas; sisters, Fleta Austin of Brownstown, and Vivian and her husband Roy Olive of Florissant, Mo.; stepchildren, Carolyn and her husband John Grames, Terry Smith and his wife Susan, and Barbara and her husband Dave Morrison, all of Brownstown, Lois and her husband Wendell Stoneburner of Beecher City, Bill Smith and his wife Cathy, and Lola and her husband Keith Gehle, both of Brownstown, Mary and her husband Stanley Salmons of St. Elmo, and Gary Smith and his wife Diana, and Brian Smith and his wife Marsha, both of Brownstown; 14 grandchildren; 24 stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 39 great-stepgrandchildren; and three great-great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; stepson, Kevin Smith; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

I'd like to correct some items in the obituary. Otis' wife was Martha June (Fletcher) Parkison, my mother.
Their children are Patsy Ann Parkison Tretter, Otis Paul Parkison, Rosalie Mae Parkison Tackett, Deanna June Parkison Carlock, Etta Louise Parkison Morrison, and Penny Sue Parkison.
His wife June is buried in Bethany Church Cemetery where his ashes will be buried, hopefully.
