He was a member of Salem Church having attended it since his birth. When he was a young boy of 11 years of age and a pupil in the Sunday School he became a communing member Aug. 22, 1928 upon his examination by the Session and his profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He later moved his church membership to the Sion Presbyterian Church, Winnsboro, S.C. April 15, 1934. He was the son of Garris McCabe Ladd, Sr. and Minnie Victoria Hentz Ladd.
