GREEN HILL -- Goldie Anna Robinette-Jackson, 95, formerly of Green Hill, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Rosewalk Village, Lafayette. Born Aug. 20, 1914, in Oakwood, Ill., she was the daughter of Francis M. and Ethel Bennett Hayden. On Oct. 24, 1931, she married James S. Robinette in Fountain County, and he died in 1982. She then married Russell A. Jackson on Oct. 13, 1984, in Lafayette, and he died in 2003. She retired in 1979 from Purdue University after 22 years, and had formerly worked for Montgomery Ward and Sears. She also owned/operated Robinette Nursery in Green Hill with her first husband for several years. She was a former member of Green Hill United Methodist and Green Hill Community churches, where she was active in their women's organizations and was their pianist. She also was a member of Green Hill Art Club and Ladies Aid Society.

Surviving are a niece, Carol Lester (husband: Keith) of West Lafayette, who was raised in her home; two stepsons, James and Larry Jackson; and a stepdaughter, Marjorie Ervin. Also surviving are nieces and nephew, Cathy Purtzer, Sherry Kent (husband: Curt) and Brian Lester (wife: Somona), whom she considered her grandchildren; and 6 great-nieces and -nephews, Christopher and Eric Purtzer, Andrew and Emily Kent, Kayla and Courtney Lester, whom she considered her great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein, the Rev. Bonnie Shoaf officiating. Interment at Davis Cemetery, Green Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to Davis Cemetery
