Wanda Nelle (Mitchell) Belcher

Wanda M. Belcher passed away Tuesday July 30, 2013 at her home in Sanger.

Wanda was born May 22, 1922 in Clarksville, AR to Benjamin Franklin and Walsie Belle (Henson) Mitchell. She married E. W. Belcher in Texarkana, TX on October 19, 1946. Prior to her marriage to E. W., Wanda taught 6th grade in Clarksville, AR and later worked for Crane Company in Little Rock. She retired two years ago as Vice President and Treasurer of E. W. Belcher Trucking Co., Inc.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 66 years and five children – daughters Betty Belcher of Denton; Becky Smith and husband Rick of Sanger; Beverly Hawkins of Denton; sons Brian Belcher and wife Judy of Sanger; and Brad Belcher and wife Kathy of Denton; 8 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Lucy Belcher of Sanger and Melba Belcher of Ft. Worth. She is also survived by an extended family of nieces and nephews and the many friends she met during her life. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, three brothers, and one grandson.

Wanda's greatest delight was spending time with her family. She loved a "house full" of people sharing their experiences of the day. But, she was happiest when she watched her grandchildren play. She also enjoyed her vegetable garden, working with flowers, and checking on the cattle on the ranch.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday August 1st at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger, Texas. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday August 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at Sanger Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider honoring Wanda's memory by helping someone in need or by making a memorial contribution to the Denton Animal Shelter Foundation, the Scottish Rite, or the Charity of Your Choice.
