Heart Disease Quickly
Ended Life of Old
Resident.
John D. Holeman, one of the oldest
and best known residents of Plesantville,
a former oil producer, lumberman
and meichant, died suddenly
Thursday night following an attack of
heart disease. It was hot generally
known until Friday morning that he
bad passed away and when the news
went abroad, that he had answered the
call of the grim reaper the whole vil-
liage was deeply shocked
John D. Holeman was born at Hole-
man Flats on the Allegheny River
on Feb 6, 1833. He was the son of
the late Hon. and Mrs. Alexander Hole-
man who were pioneers in eastern
Venango County. Alexander Holeman
came to Venango County when but 9
years of age and later in life was one of
the leading men of the County. He was a
member of the Legislature from Ven-
ango and later was President Judge of
the county.
His son came to the neighborhood
of Pleasantville early in the 50's and
became one of the substantial business
men of that neighborhood. He dealt
in lumber and was a successful
farmer, having a well cultivated farm
in Oil Creek Township.
On July 25, 1855 Mr. Holeman was
united in marriage to Miss Ellen Barr
of Pleasantville. To this union were
born three children who survive. They
are Mrs. S.K. Bailey of Titusville, and
Mrs. W.E. Parshall and Mrs. L.W.
Siggins of Pleasantville. Mrs. Hole-
man died Dec 23, 1911.
