Don was born Oct. 12, 1942 in Torrington, the son of James and Hilda (Herren) Teske. He grew up and received his education in Torrington, graduating high school there. He married Sylvia "Kay" Lackey on Aug. 30, 1963 in Torrington.
He entered the U.S. Army where he earned the rank of sergeant. Upon his discharge, he returned to Torrington. He started working for the Goshen County School District and worked his way up to head custodian at Trail Elementary. He was there for 34 years, retiring on July 1, 2003.
Don was a member of the United Methodist Church, RT School Personnel, AARP, Sugar Valley Singers and the State Custodial Association Board. He enjoyed traveling, cruises, family, walking, singing and playing guitar.
Don is survived by a son, Kevin Teske, and a daughter, Djuana Heil and her husband Shawne, all of Torrington; two brothers, Roger and Billy Teske, both of Torrington; four grandchildren, Miranda Teske, Brandent Wade Heil, BreEanna Kay Heil and Summer Heil, all of Torrington; one great grandchild, Anden Hansen, and another great grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kay; three brothers, Jerry, James and Robert; and two sisters, Jacquelin Samson and Jeanne Harriman.
