This is my Grandpa who I still miss to this day.
He married Singne Olivia (Nordberg)Vivian on September 24, 1927 in Cuba. To this marriage they had:
1. Lawrence Edward Vivian, born July 3, 1928 Died January 17, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas
2. Otho Dee Vivian, Jr., born November 5, 1932, Bishop, Texas.
3.Ernest Clarence Vivian,(MY DADDY), born, January 8, 1940, Carrizo Springs,Texas, Dimmit County.
My Grandpa was was a Deputy Sheriff of Dimmit Co., June 10,1919 under R.T. Hall. He was a Ranger in 1914 to about 1919 uner under 2 Captain rangers, one was Captain Sanders and the other was, Captain Ryan.
I was 8 years old when my Granpa died but I still remember him like it was yesterday. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him. He loved to tell stories about the old days , chasing bandits and riding horses. My Grandma could also ride a horse with the best of them. My Grandpa had a very long porch that he would sit on his favorite chair and roll prince albert in a can. His hair was the most beautiful snow white. I think God blessed my Grandpa with a nice thick head of white hair. He had his spot in the living room where he would sit and read his paper. Before he would come in I would jump in his chair. He would stop and look at me, then shew me off his chair. As punishment I had to sit and read the funny section. To me this was not punishment it was a game. A fun game. My Grandpa was good to me. I remember giving his cheeks kisses and feeling his scratchy beard on my mouth. My Daddy and Uncle Larry know a lot of storys about my Grandpa. He also like to sit and wait for the mail man every morning. They would sit and have coffee and doughnuts and chat about what was going on in town. Thats the way it was back then.
I also remember the huge concrete shower he had. He also would have these great big bars of nice smelling ivory soap.
My Grandpa was a Texas Ranger back in the days when they rode horses. He was a tall Texan and very good-looking.
Grandpa I look at your pictures every day and so does Daddy and so many others. We miss you and it hurts without you here. You were a very strong man with good morals and very strong family values. I love you Grandpa.
Until the day I can see you and Grandma again. Rest in peace in Jesus sweet arms.
