William J. "Will" Stuhldreher was born in August 1870 in Stark County, Ohio to Augustus "Gus" Stuhldreher and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Scharber/Scharver Stuhldreher.
He married Flora L. Witt December 31, 1897, and they lived in Massillon in Stark County, Ohio. "Will" died October 1, 1939, and was buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, Stark County, Ohio.
William J. Stuhldreher, 69, of 508 3rd st., NE, grocery store proprietor here for 41 years and father of Harry Stuhldreher, football coach and athletic director at the University of Wisconsin, died suddenly shortly after noon Sunday at the Beiter monument works in Erie st., south. Death resulted from a heart ailment.

Mr. Stuhldreher dropped over dead while watching Earl Beiter demonstrate an oil stove in which he had evidenced an interest. He had arrived at the monument works a short time before to transact some business and as he was leaving he noticed the stove and remarked about it. While Mr. Beiter was showing him how it operated he collapsed.

Born on Farm at Millport

Born on a farm at Millport Aug. 2, 1870, Mr. Stuhldreher attended school in the vicinity and helped on the farm until he was 18 years of age. At that time he came to Massillon and secured a position as clerk in the store of S. F. Wefler where he worked for seven years.

After spending two years in Cleveland, Mr. Stuhldreher returned to this city and assisted his father and a brother in hauling stone from the Vogt stone quarry north of here and erecting a building at 127 1st st., NE. When the building was completed Mr. Stuhldreher opened a grocery store in it. He continued to operate the store until his death.

Mr. Stuhldreher's son, Harry, was one of the famed "Four Horsemen" of Notre Dame university, and following his graduation he became coach at Villa Nova college. Later he was named coach at the University of Wisconsin.

Another son, Walter Stuhldreher, of South Bend, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Sophia Fredrickson, of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and a half sister, Mrs. Dan Connell, of Chicago, also survive.

Mr. Stuhldreher was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and Massillon council No. 554 Knights of Columbus. For 10 years he served as a councilman of St. Mary's church.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's church. Interment will be made in the mausoleum at Calvary cemetery. The body is at the Gordon-Shaidnagle-Hollinger funeral home.
