Times and Democrat: December 19, 1942: " Lottie Lee Magrill Etheredge died Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Griffith, where she had been critically ill for the past week. Services were Sunday afternoon from Trinity Lutheran Church. Mrs. Lottie Lee Magrill Etheredge was born Feb. 11, 1864, the daughter of Richard and Emily Haigler Magrill. In December 1883 she married George Guilford Etheredge, who died in April 1906. To this union were born six children, three of whom survived. Mrs. Etheredge received her education at the old St. Matthew's Academy and at Walhalla Woman's College. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Her entire life was spent at Elloree. She was an outstanding landmark in the growth of Elloree and one of its oldest and most beloved citizens. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J.R. Bardin and Mrs. Frank Griffith, and one son, Guilford R. Etheredge all of Elloree. Fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Four of her grandsons are in the service - Sgt. G.B. Ingraham, Jr., Charleston; Richard and Franklin Griffith of Curtin Bay, Md.; and J.R. Bardin, Jr. of Shaw Field."
