Gerry was born October 1, 1935, in California. He grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he received a Master’s Degree from LSU. Gerry was brilliant and accomplished in two career fields. He pioneered in the computer and banking industry, later returning to education where he taught and coached not only his students, but all who loved him throughout his life. He relished sharing his life experiences with family and friends, and will be remembered with fondness for his strong will and clever dry wit. His enormous heart was often masked by a gruff exterior but did not go unseen. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lin Freeman, and his sons, Jeffrey W. Freeman, T.J. Wright, Christopher J. Wright, Matthew J. Klages, and Ryan Scott Freeman. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Freeman, and sister, Tina DeLoach. In granting Jerry’s last wish, his body has been donated to the UT Health Science Center. To honor his dedication to education, the family requests donations in his memory to the Willed Body Program, UT Health Science Center (UTHSC), Department of Cellular & Structural Biology, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78229-3900. Gerry’s family wishes to express our sincere appreciation for the prayers and many acts of kindness from friends and co-workers over the past seven months. We are especially grateful for the wonderful support provided by the Stone Oak Care Center and Heartland Hospice.
